Bobby and I started out at St. Patrick's School. He told me to stop covering my smile with my hand to hide my braces. He was sweet in his support! In highschool, he remained the enthusiastic, positive, energetic person with such a warm smile. My sympathy goes to all who loved him.

Bobby was my neighbor and close friend, I was his best man at his wedding. He was a VietNam combat veteran and successful executive. To look at him and to engage with him you would not have guessed that he had been suffering from heart disease since he was in his forties, having endured multiple bypass surgeries over time. As recently as a couple of years ago, Bobby was enjoying his passion in life, scuba diving in Thailand.

I last saw Bobby last year at this time at our mountain cabin in southern Utah. I take some comfort in knowing that he and his wife , Connie, thoroughly enjoyed their short visit. It was their first visit to southern Utah and they enjoyed taking in the local wildlife and fall foliage. I marveled at Bobby's zest for life and extremely positive outlook in the face of living with some serious medical challenges.... approximately 20% of normal heart strength, an implanted pacemaker and defribulator, and type 1 diabetes. When he left to go back home to El Paso, I wondered to mysef if I would see him again. Sadly I got my answer on August 27, when he suffered a cardiac arrest. I will miss my old friend and his family will miss their beloved patriarch.
